Forensic Science is a multidisciplinary
subject used for probing crime scene & gathering evidence to be used in prosecution of
offenders in a court of law.
While pursuing a degree in forensic science,
important criminal subjects are being taught to the students so that they should get through
knowledge of the criminal justice system in India, the hierarchy of criminal courts with its
powers and functions, the duties and powers of police officers, the evidentiary value of
expert’s opinion, F.I.R. and lie detector test.
Besides this, we keep our students updated
discussing with them landmark judgments given by courts & recent amendments carried out in
criminal law subjects.
Study of substantive & procedural laws i.e. IPC (Indian Penal Code), CrRP. (Criminal Procedure
Code) and IEA (Indian Evidence Act) helps our students to be familiar with the procedure followed in
a court.
To have practical exposure to court proceedings, our
students visit courts, police stations, and prisons at regular intervals as part of their curriculum
as well as students perform ‘street play’ on various socio-legal issues which create legal awareness
in society.
